AC/DC Hits Buenos Aires

After a short hospitalization, guitarist Stevie Young returned to live performance with AC/DC on Monday in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The band played at Estadio River Plate, delivering 21 songs that spanned decades of their catalog. Fans in attendance captured the performance in videos that quickly spread online, showing the group back in full force.

Young shared the stage with his uncle Angus Young, singer Brian Johnson, bassist Chris Chaney, and drummer Matt Laug. They opened with “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)” and finished the night with the traditional closer, “For Those About to Rock (We Salute You),” keeping the energy consistent throughout.

Health Concerns Before the Show

The guitarist had fallen ill after AC/DC’s March 15 performance in Santiago, Chile. At the time, a spokesperson said, “Out of an abundance of caution, he was admitted to a local [Buenos Aires] hospital where he is undergoing a full battery of tests. Stevie is doing well and is in good spirits. He is looking forward to getting onstage on Monday.”

The statement reassured fans that Young was recovering and ready to perform, and the Monday show confirmed his readiness to continue the tour despite the setback.

Keeping the Family Legacy Alive

Stevie Young became part of AC/DC in 2014, stepping in for his uncle Malcolm Young, who co-founded the band in 1973. Malcolm retired due to dementia and other health issues, passing away in 2017. Stevie has maintained the classic rhythm-guitar style while adding his own approach, ensuring the band’s sound remains strong.

On Monday, his playing reflected both respect for the original material and his ability to handle AC/DC’s demanding songs, seamlessly matching Angus’s signature guitar lines.

Upcoming Shows and Tour Plans

The March 23 show was the first of three in Buenos Aires. Following this, AC/DC will perform another three-night run in Mexico City on April 7, 11, and 15. Later this year, the band will tour North America, beginning on July 11 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and wrapping up on September 29 in Philadelphia.

The band has overcome previous obstacles, including health and legal challenges during the 2015–2016 Rock or Bust tour, and continues to deliver full performances for fans around the world.
