Watch Megadeth Hunt Ghosts Inside A Haunted State Prison

In the bustling year of 2023, Megadeth found a unique way to unwind amidst their hectic schedule. Before their performance at the Inkcarceration Music & Tattoo Festival in Mansfield, Ohio, the band delved into a ghost-hunting session at the Ohio State Reformatory, the venue for the festival.

Part of the Paranormal Prison series by Danny Wimmer Presents, hosted by Josh Bernstein from the rock music talk show Power Hour, the series features musicians exploring the Ohio State Reformatory, constructed in 1886. Initially a functioning prison, it later gained fame as a filming location for movies like The Shawshank Redemption and Air Force One.

Megadeth took center stage in the final episode of the series, with Dave Mustaine, Kiko Loureiro, James LoMenzo, and Dirk Verbeuren joining Bernstein for an adventure in the prison’s attic. Bernstein revealed that the attic served as the maximum-security area when the prison was operational.

Equipped with spirit boxes, the musicians roamed the premises in an attempt to communicate with the spirits of prisoners who had perished during their incarceration.

In an interview clip, Mustaine shared:

“Me, myself, I’ve had what I believe are visitations in sleep. But as far as out-of-body experiences or seeing an apparition or stuff like that, how much of it is just a little too much ganja back when you were doing that stuff? Maybe it’s real.”

From South America to Europe

Looking ahead, Megadeth has some exciting plans lined up. They’re going on a tour in South America starting in early April, and then they’ll be heading to Europe in June to rock the stage.

Teemu Mäntysaari will be filling in for Kiko Loureiro during these tours because Kiko is taking a bit of a break from the band for now. Even though Kiko will be missed, Megadeth is all set to give fans an awesome show filled with their famous songs and energetic performances.
