Motley Crue vocalist Vince Neil has spoken publicly for the first time about the life-threatening stroke he suffered in December 2024—a medical emergency that nearly brought his decades-long touring career to a halt. In a revealing conversation with SiriusXM host Eddie Trunk, Neil shared not only the severity of the most recent episode but also the shocking discovery that it was his fourth stroke in recent years.

Paralyzed and Powerless

The stroke struck suddenly on Christmas morning. Neil recalled waking up disoriented and unable to move the left side of his body. “I opened my eyes and couldn’t stand up. My leg was gone, and my arm wasn’t working,” he explained. It was Rain, his longtime girlfriend, and her aunt—who happened to be a nurse—who realized he was likely having a stroke.

Unfortunately, by the time they reached medical professionals, the critical window for administering stroke medication had closed. Doctors confirmed a blood clot had formed in his left leg and traveled to his brain, triggering the debilitating event.

Neil immediately entered physical rehabilitation. “It was a long road,” he said. “I went from being in a wheelchair to using a walker, then a cane. It took months before I could really walk on my own again. For a while, every day was a question mark.”

A Hidden Medical History

Perhaps even more startling was what Neil learned during recovery: the December 2024 stroke was his fourth. “Two of them I didn’t even know had happened,” he told Trunk. One was a minor stroke that caused temporary numbness in his hand—something he had brushed off at the time.

“I don’t remember anything strange happening for the other two,” he admitted. “It must’ve happened quietly, and I just pushed through it without realizing what it was.”

Back on Stage, Still Battling

Despite the severity of his condition, Neil returned to touring earlier than advised—driven by a determination to reclaim his spot on stage. Now midway through Motley Crue’s 10-night residency at Las Vegas’ Dolby Live, the 62-year-old rocker says he’s almost back to full strength—but not without limitations.

“I’d say I’m at about 95 percent,” Neil shared. “There are still some physical things I can’t do yet. That Vegas stage is massive—it’s a challenge just moving across it. I’m not sprinting across the stage like I used to, but I’m adapting.”

The residency continues with shows scheduled for September 24, 26, and 27, before wrapping up with final performances on October 1 and 3. Despite the setbacks, Neil’s message is clear: he’s not ready to step away from the spotlight just yet.
