Law enforcement officials are continuing their investigation into the fatal shooting of conservative political commentator Charlie Kirk, who was killed during a public event at Utah Valley University in Orem. Authorities are analyzing a newly surfaced video that may provide crucial information about the shooter’s position and escape route.
The video, which is circulating widely on social media, begins moments after the fatal shot was fired. As the crowd reacts to the incident, a figure can be seen in the background, appearing to run across the rooftop of a campus building. Though brief, the movement suggests a possible vantage point used by the shooter. A university spokesperson later confirmed that the shot was fired from the roof of a building approximately 200 yards from where Kirk was seated.
Graphic Footage and Immediate Aftermath
Footage from the event shows Kirk being struck in the neck by a bullet, causing his head to snap back violently. He began bleeding heavily from the wound and was quickly transported to a nearby hospital. Despite the efforts of emergency medical personnel, Kirk succumbed to his injuries. President Donald Trump publicly announced Kirk’s death at approximately 1:40 PM Pacific Time.
Political Leaders Condemn Violence
The shooting has sparked bipartisan condemnation from political leaders across the country. California Governor Gavin Newsom, former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Senator Mike Lee are among those who have publicly denounced the act. All have called for unity and a rejection of political violence in the wake of this tragedy.
As of now, the suspect remains unidentified, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
