A first look at Wind of Change, the upcoming biographical film about the iconic rock band Scorpions, has been released with a new trailer. Directed by Alex Ranarivelo and produced by ESX Entertainment for Fox Entertainment Studios in collaboration with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, the film is expected to premiere in U.S. theaters sometime this year, though a specific release date has not been announced.
Star-Studded Cast to Portray Rock Legends
The cast features Alexander Dreymon as guitarist Rudolf Schenker, Ludwig Trepte as frontman Klaus Meine, Ed Speleers as guitarist Matthias Jabs, and Luke Brandon Field as drummer Herman Rarebell. Additional cast members include Dominic West in the role of the band’s manager, Doc McGhee, and David Kross as Andrej, a friend of the band from East Germany.
“This cast is an amazing ensemble of truly great talent,” said Ali Afshar, president and founder of ESX Entertainment, in an earlier press release. “I can’t thank Fox Entertainment and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment enough for their support — and especially the band — Rudolf, Klaus and Matthias — for believing in us and trusting us to tell their life story.”
A Story of Music and Revolution
According to visual effects supervisor Connor Thomas, Wind of Change will explore more than just the band’s rise to fame. “This film tells the untold story of the legendary rock band Scorpions,” Thomas wrote in the trailer’s YouTube description, “and how their music helped bring down the Berlin Wall and inspire change across the Soviet Union.”
