Tomorrowland, one of the world’s most iconic electronic music festivals, will go ahead as scheduled despite a devastating fire that destroyed its main stage on Wednesday—just one day before festivities were set to begin. In a statement posted to Instagram, organizers confirmed the structure was “severely damaged” but reported no injuries or fatalities. Videos shared online show plumes of thick black smoke rising from the festival grounds in Boom, Belgium, as emergency responders rushed to the scene. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire, but investigations are underway.
DreamVille and City Events Still On
While the fire posed a major disruption, festival organizers have reassured attendees that DreamVille, the festival’s camping experience, will still open on July 17. Events planned in Brussels and Antwerp will also continue “as planned.” The team behind Tomorrowland emphasized they are actively working on solutions to ensure the festival continues safely and successfully. “We are focused on finding solutions for the festival weekend,” they wrote. Additional updates are expected in the coming days.
Over 400,000 Fans Still Expected
Tomorrowland is set to welcome more than 400,000 attendees over its two weekends, scheduled for July 18–20 and July 24–27. Despite the setback, excitement remains high for a packed lineup that includes Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, Deadmau5, Dillon Francis, Steve Aoki, and Eric Prydz. The festival, known for its elaborate stage design and global appeal, faces the challenge of rebuilding or reconfiguring the main stage in record time—but organizers remain optimistic. Fans from around the world are still expected to gather in Boom to celebrate dance music, unity, and the spirit of Tomorrowland.
