Petty Remembered By One Of His Oldest – And Biggest – Fans

Beyond the glowing musical legacy that includes 3 Grammy Awards, 18 nominations and a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Petty leaves behind something far more important: a gorgeous family that includes daughters Adria and Annakim Violette Petty, the latter of whom took to social media in her father’s final hours to lovingly remember him through a series of tender photos taken throughout the course of her life.

AnnaKim Remembers

Annakim, 35 and an artist, bravely and selflessly shared with us her favorite memories of growing up as Tom Petty’s daughter, the very embodiment of the love with which she was raised and taught to give the world, even during hard times – especially during the hard times.

From photos of the two backstage at Tom’s final shows and the matching stage jackets shared by father and daughter, to baby photos and a heartbreaking confirmation of what we all feared, Annakim Violette Petty’s Instagram posts are a loving reminder that Tom Petty wasn’t just a rockstar; he was a family man who was loved dearly, who gave love in the same measure he received it.

“My dad had matching stage clothes made for me as a kid. this jacket still fits me. made by glen Palmer from granny takes a trip. when I got the call to come to the hospital, I grabbed this jacket – I’m still wearing it.”

He will be forever missed, and while we love the music he left behind, the greatest part of him lives on through his children. Rest in peace, Tom.
