Timothée Chalamet Performs 3 Bob Dylan Songs On SNL

via Saturday Night Live / Youtube

On Saturday Night Live, Timothée Chalamet did more than just host; he also sang three Bob Dylan songs. The actor, who most recently played Dylan in the biopic A Complete Unknown, gave moving performances of Dylan’s songs “Outlaw Blues” from Bringing It All Back Home (1965), “Three Angels” from New Morning (1970), and the poignant “Tomorrow Is a Long Time” from Dylan’s 1971 compilation album, Bob Dylan’s Greatest Hits Vol. II.

Chalamet had a strong band supporting him, including keyboardist James Blake, an English singer-songwriter and producer. Chalamet’s musical abilities were showcased to fans, and the performance demonstrated how fully he embraced Dylan’s universe for the movie.

Choosing a Dylan Favorite

When asked recently about his favorite Bob Dylan song, Chalamet admitted it’s hard to choose. “Man, I couldn’t tell you, it changes every day,” he said. After some thought, he added, “Today, I don’t know if I could do it, but just today—and it might change tomorrow—I would say ‘Outlaw Blues.’”

A Complete Unknown and Oscar Buzz

Chalamet is riding high with A Complete Unknown, which has earned eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. Chalamet is in the running for Best Actor for his portrayal of Dylan, and Monica Barbaro and Edward Norton snagged nominations for their roles as Joan Baez and Pete Seeger, respectively. Directed by James Mangold, the film is also up for Best Director and several technical awards.

Dylan in 2025

While Chalamet is busy making headlines, the real Bob Dylan is keeping it low-key. He has just one concert scheduled for this year, set for March 25 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Chalamet’s SNL appearance gave fans a unique treat, blending his acting talent with his passion for music—a perfect warm-up for what could be a big night at the Oscars.
