Long Live SRV

Just before his untimely passing, the great and unforgettable Stevie Ray Vaughan played “Pride and Joy” at the Alpine Valley venue in East Troy, WI with Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, and his brother, Jimmie. This concert was a once in a lifetime experience that was not anticipated to be SRV’s last, however, the weather that night headed back to Chicago was not ideal.

Fun Fact: It is reported that Stevie had a nightmare about attending his own funeral that same morning, viewing thousands of mourners on his dying day.

Stevie was supposed to head back with his brother and sister- in- law, Connie, however, the two seats reserved for the couple were taken by Clapton’s agent and bodyguard and unfortunately for us all, the storm assumed control over the helicopter and caused its crash into the side of a ski-slope and was not found until the next day.

As we chose this song, one of our favorites ever, we like to think of Stevie and the magic he made as our “Pride and Joy.”

“Stick with her until the end of time. She’s my sweet little thang, she’s my pride and joy”

As we listen to the last ever recording of this life changing song, we cannot help but feel angered and betrayed for losing such a special and gifted individual to the fates of nature.

We will remember you forever Stevie.
