The Rolling Stones Are Back: Fresh Tracks With Producer

The Rolling Stones appear to be back at work on new music, according to their current producer Andrew Watt. While the details are still under tight wraps, Watt recently hinted at fresh studio activity in a conversation with Rolling Stone magazine.
“I’ve said it before, but it’s like working for Batman,” Watt said, referencing the band’s iconic tongue logo. “When the tongue is up in the air, you just go. I can say we did some recording together, but that’s all I can say.”
Whether these sessions will result in a full-length studio album is still unknown. However, Watt has previously revealed that the band had a surplus of material to draw from during the making of Hackney Diamonds, their 2023 release and first album of original songs since 2005’s A Bigger Bang.
A Creative Overflow
Speaking earlier this year, Watt described the Stones’ recent creative energy as unprecedented. “It was a prolific time for the band,” he explained. “They had amassed around 18 years of material. There was so much to go through initially, and then new songs just started flowing because everyone was in the zone.”
The band’s creative momentum may carry into a new project. While Hackney Diamonds marked a significant return to form—and earned them critical acclaim and a Grammy nomination—there’s now speculation that the Stones are building on that success with even more unreleased material.
Insider Confirmation from Marlon Richards
Additional confirmation comes from a more personal source: Keith Richards’ son, Marlon Richards. In a recent interview with Record Collector, Marlon revealed that the band is currently recording in West London.
“They’re in town right now, recording,” he said, via NME. “They’re in Chiswick or somewhere like that; I think they’re nearly done. They still maintain these ridiculous hours—from after lunch until two in the morning. I’d rather be somewhere else at that time of night. Unless you’re involved, it’s pretty boring.”
Like Watt, Marlon was uncertain about the final outcome of these sessions. “I guess it’s an album—they have enough left over from the last one,” he said. “They got a Grammy, so now they’re all fired up: ‘Oh yeah—we can do another one like that! We’ve got more like that if you want.’ I think they’re working on the follow-up.”
No official announcement has been made by the band or their label, but the signs are clear: something is brewing in the Rolling Stones’ camp. Whether it’s a full album or another surprise drop, fans may not have to wait long to hear what’s next.
