Tom Petty, the rock legend known for his distinctive voice and timeless hits, left a permanent mark on the music world with his band, the Heartbreakers. Celebrated for his blend of rock, heartland, and folk influences, Petty’s career spanned over four decades, producing classic songs like “American Girl” and “Free Fallin’.” His final live performance took place at the Hollywood Bowl, marking the end of an era for this iconic musician.

Before Tom Petty passed away from a heart attack, his final live performance took place at the Hollywood Bowl. On this memorable night, he ended his set with “You Wreck Me” and his classic hit “American Girl.”

Petty took a moment to express his gratitude to the audience with his final words:

Just a week after finishing a three-night run at the Hollywood Bowl to celebrate his 40th anniversary tour, Petty died from a cardiac arrest on October 2, 2017, at the age of 66.

In his last performance, fans cheered as Petty and his band wrapped up their set and took the time to sign autographs. His parting words to the crowd as he left the stage were:

“God bless you! Goodnight!”
