The Beatles‘ last-ever song, titled “Now and Then,” is set to be unveiled next week. A brief documentary chronicling the song’s creation will be made available on November 1, and the song itself will be ready for listening on November 2.

Additionally, a music video crafted by Peter Jackson will be released on November 3. All four members of the Beatles, including John Lennon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, and Ringo Starr, contributed to the track.

Before these release dates, there is a short trailer about the making of “Now and Then” that can be viewed below. Furthermore, you can pre-order the double A-side single of “Now and Then” and “Love Me Do” here. Finally, updated editions of the Beatles’ career-spanning compilation albums, 1962-1966 (known as “The Red Album”) and 1967-1970 (known as “The Blue Album”), are scheduled to be available on November 10. All About The Last Song ‘Now and Then’

The three remaining Beatles members got together in the studio in 1994, under the direction of producer Jeff Lynne, to work on some demo tapes that had been given to them by Yoko Ono that had been made by John Lennon before he passed away. The songs “Free as a Bird” and “Real Love,” which were included on Anthology 1 and Anthology 2, respectively, were born during this session.

At this time, “Now and Then” was also being worked on, although it was ultimately abandoned. Nearly 30 years later, McCartney and Starr re-recorded the song with Jackson’s help. Jackson used the same de-mixing software for the 2021 documentary The Beatles: Get Back. In order to effectively remix Lennon’s singing in a new song, Jackson and his colleagues were able to extract it from the other noises on the demo recording.

Even though McCartney plays the slide guitar solo on the finished version of “Now and Then,” Harrison actually played the acoustic guitar sections during the initial mid-90s sessions with Lynne.
