The Eagles – “Take It Easy” Performed Live At The Capital Centre

The Eagles – “Take It Easy” Performed Live At The Capital Centre | Society Of Rock Videos

Capital Centre, 1977

Before the house lights went down on the Eagles after their wildly successful 1977 concert at Maryland’s Capital Centre, the band came out for one last encore of their hit song ‘Take It Easy’, much to the delight of the already amped up crowd.

This performance of ‘Take It Easy’ is honestly the Eagles in rare form; flanked by the exceptional harmonies provided by the rest of the band, Glenn Frey is the best he’s ever been! He commands the stage as easily as breathing, and for a moment it’s easy to believe that this a performance for you and you alone.

Fun fact: Jackson Browne couldn’t think of a way to finish ‘Take It Easy’, and passed it onto the Eagles’ Glenn Frey to finish.

This was one of the last Eagles shows to feature bass player Randy Meisner, who would leave shortly after mid-tour due to mounting tensions between himself and Glenn Frey.

It’s easy to see why this particular performance at the Capital Centre is widely regarded as the best of the Eagles’ entire career – the energy is absolutely fantastic, and it’s so hard to not get caught up in the moment with this talented band!

+ Take It Easy lyrics +

Well I’m a runnin’ down the road
Tryin’ to loosen my load
I’ve got seven women on my mind
Four that wanna own me
Two that wanna stone me
One says she’s a friend of mine

Take it easy, take it easy
Don’t let the sound of your own wheels
Drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don’t even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand
And take it easy

Well, I’m a standin’ on a corner
In Winslow, Arizona
Such a fine sight to see
It’s a girl my Lord
in a flat-bed Ford
Slowin’ down to take a look at me

Come on, baby, don’t say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love
Is gonna save me
We may lose and we may win
Though we will never be here again
So open up I’m climbin’ in
So take it easy

Well, I’m a runnin’ down the road
Tryin’ to loosen my load
Got a world of trouble on my mind
Lookin’ for a lover
Who won’t blow my cover
She’s so hard to find

Take it easy, take it easy
Don’t let the sound of your own wheels
Make you crazy
Come on baby, don’t say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love
Is gonna save me

Oh we got it easy
We oughta take it easy
