Rock Legends Come Together for a Cause
Some of the most iconic voices in classic rock are joining forces for one unforgettable night later this month — and it’s all for a good cause. On November 23, retired Olympic ice skating legend and cancer survivor Scott Hamilton will host his annual Scott Cares fundraiser for cancer research.
This year’s event will feature a supergroup of six lead singers from some of the most beloved rock bands of the 1970s and 1980s. Performing together for the first and only time, the lineup includes Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon, Jason Derlatka of Journey, Jason Scheff of Chicago, John Elefante of Kansas, Wally Palmar of The Romantics, and Mike Reno of Loverboy. Reno’s wife, Catherine St. Germain, will also take the stage for a special performance.
A Rock and Roll Dream Come True
Speaking with PEOPLE, Hamilton shared his excitement about the star-studded event. “It’s going to be a big old rock and roll show,” he said. “We’re getting six lead singers or performers from six bands that were just iconic in the late seventies, eighties.”
For Hamilton, the moment is more than just a fundraiser — it’s the realization of a personal dream. “So many of these guys are my heroes,” he added. “Back in the day, I would’ve killed to get a backstage pass to see or meet or to be in the same proximity as these guys, and now I’m producing them in my show. It’s like, are you kidding me?”

What Fans Can Expect
While the exact setlist remains a surprise, Hamilton hinted that audiences can expect timeless hits performed by the artists who made them famous. “You’ll hear songs you’ve heard a million times being performed by the artists that created the music,” he said.
The event will also feature professional skaters performing routines set to these classic tracks. “It’s Nathan Chen skating to REO Speedwagon. It’s Maxim Naumov skating to Loverboy, as well as Keegan Messing skating to Loverboy. It’s Gracie Gold skating to Chicago,” Hamilton explained.
Supporting Cancer Research and Awareness
All proceeds from the Scott Cares event will go toward cancer research centers and the 4th Angel Foundation, which pairs newly diagnosed patients with survivors for guidance and support. The cause holds deep personal meaning for Hamilton, who has survived multiple battles with cancer.
Meanwhile, several of the artists participating in the event are also entering new chapters in their careers. Journey, now led by Arnel Pineda, recently announced the first leg of their 2026 and 2027 farewell tour, with additional dates across the U.K. and Europe expected soon.
As for REO Speedwagon, they revealed in September last year that they would cease touring due to “irreconcilable differences” between Kevin Cronin and Neal Doughty. “I didn’t want to end REO Speedwagon… I just got outvoted and… have to stop calling it REO Speedwagon at the end of this year,” Cronin shared.
