Sting has unveiled a new single, “I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart),” featuring his current power trio lineup. The song showcases guitarist Dominic Miller and drummer Chris Maas, arriving just ahead of the group’s upcoming Sting 3.0 North American tour, which kicks off on September 17th in Detroit.
The music video for “I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart)” is available on the video below.
This new track presents a grittier sound compared to Sting’s recent work, incorporating the classic Bo Diddley rhythm and delivering a raw, raspy vocal performance from the legendary singer. On this single, Sting handles both bass and guitar duties. It marks his first release of new music since his 2021 album, The Bridge.
Sting’s 2024 Tour Dates and Locations
Sting’s Sting 3.0 tour began in May in Dresden, Germany, where he performed a mix of solo hits like “Fields of Gold” and “Fortress Around Your Heart” along with timeless Police tracks like “Every Breath You Take” and “Roxanne.”
The North American leg starts on September 17th with two nights at the Fillmore Detroit. The tour will then travel through major cities, including Toronto, Boston, Atlanta, and Chicago, before concluding with two shows at the Wiltern in Los Angeles. You can find the complete tour schedule below.
Though there hasn’t been news of a new album to accompany the release of “I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart),” fans can dive into the recently released box set celebrating Synchronicity, the Police’s final album from 1983.
