Stevie Nicks is officially working on a new album—and this time, she’s calling it a “ghost record.”

While accepting her induction into the Pollstar Hall of Fame on Wednesday, the rock legend shared some personal stories and surprising news: a fresh project is in the works. And it all started during an unexpected pause in her life caused by the California wildfires.

Fire, Evacuation, and a Spark of Inspiration

Nicks explained that although her home was spared in the Los Angeles wildfires, she had to evacuate for 92 days. Stuck in a hotel, far from her usual routine, she found herself with a lot of time—and not much to do. She said:

“It just really kinda happened in the last couple of weeks because of, you know, the fires.
“I was sitting in a hotel for 92 days, and at some point during that last part of the 92 days, I said, ‘You know what? I feel like I’m on the road, but there’s no shows.’”

She added:

“I’m just sitting here by myself… and I thought, ‘You need to go back to work.’ And I did.”

Prince’s Words Still Echo

Nicks also shared a memory involving her friend and musical icon Prince, who once turned down a necklace she brought him, telling her: “You always bring me a gift, you never bring me you.” That moment stuck with her—and it’s partly why this album feels so personal.

Nicks says the new album includes seven “autobiographical” songs so far, each based on real moments and meaningful relationships. She explained:

“They are not airy-fairy songs that you are wondering who they’re about but you don’t really get it.
“They’re real stories of memories of mine, of fantastic men.”

The First New Music in Years

Nicks last released an album of new material in 2011 with In Your Dreams. In 2014, she followed it with 24 Karat Gold: Songs From the Vault, a collection of updated versions of her earlier unreleased demos.

Now, fans can look forward to a deeply personal new chapter—born from stillness, reflection, and a desire to bring her true self back to the music.
