Falling Object Causes Injuries Mid-Show
Three people were injured during Bruce Springsteen’s concert in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, after a heavy metal object fell from the ceiling. Local police reported that the item, weighing several kilograms, came loose during the performance on Friday night. Despite the accident, the concert went on as planned.
The victims included two women, aged 22 and 50, and a 48-year-old man. All three were taken to the hospital for treatment. The incident occurred beneath a large video cube, prompting staff to immediately block off that area to prevent further risk.

Investigation Underway
Officials explained that early findings showed the object—over a meter in size—detached from one of the cube’s corners. Police are now looking into what caused the piece to fall and whether other parts of the structure may also be unsafe.
The concert took place at Gelsenkirchen’s Veltins Arena, located about 60 kilometers northeast of Düsseldorf, in North Rhine-Westphalia, the most populous state in Germany. The arena was filled with thousands of fans watching the show.
This was Springsteen’s final concert in Germany for his European tour, following earlier stops in Berlin and Frankfurt. A police spokesperson confirmed the injuries but added that the event continued after the area around the fallen piece was safely secured.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to understand exactly how the object broke free and whether it could have been prevented. For now, safety checks are being reviewed for upcoming shows to avoid similar incidents.
