Sammy Hagar and The Circle are streaming the official music video for their version of the David Bowie classic “Heroes”. Their cover is featured on their newly released LP “Lockdown 2020” which they recorded remotely during their Lockdown Sessions when the pandemic forced them to stop touring. They previously dropped “Heroes” back in December.
Along with guitarist Vic Johnson, bassist Michael Anthony, and drummer Jason Bonham, Hagar gave the song a hard rock treatment.
Hagar says, “David Bowie’s ‘Heroes’ is one of my favorite songs ever, and a chance to tip our hat to all those frontline workers on every level from the grocery stores, to the policeman and firefighters, doctors etc. that put their own lives at risk & do their jobs to help others.”
He then adds, “For us it kind of sums up 2020, the whole year. And to release it so close to his birthday and passing just makes it that more special.”
All the proceeds of “Heroes” will be donated to food banks around the US.
Hagar previously told Rolling Stone, “With the addition of ‘Heroes’, it made sense to help those who are struggling from the effects of Covid-19. It probably wouldn’t have happened without it.”
