Celebrating six decades in the music industry in 2025, guitarist Ronnie Wood continues to thrive. Best known for his legendary work with Faces and the Rolling Stones, the 78-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer shows no signs of slowing down. Recent reports hint at a Faces reunion, with Wood confirming that he and longtime collaborator Sir Rod Stewart are working on new material together.
Speaking with BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs on October 12, Wood revealed, “We’ve got these songs that we’re working on from back in the day, but it’s hard to make our times tally.” He added, “When we do get a chance to get in the studio again, we will finish off these songs. We’ve got a good body of songs going.”
Faces Reunion: A Dream on the Horizon
Faces was formed in 1969 after the departure of Steve Marriott from Small Faces. Wood and Stewart, who had previously played together in the Jeff Beck Group, joined the newly formed band. Faces enjoyed significant success throughout the early 1970s, especially in the UK and Europe, before breaking up in 1975. Wood joined the Rolling Stones a year later, cementing his place in rock history.
In 2025, Stewart invited Wood onstage at Glastonbury Festival for an electrifying performance of “Stay With Me,” Faces’ signature hit. Their undeniable chemistry highlighted a friendship that has stood the test of time.
“Absolutely nothing had changed,” Wood remarked about the reunion. “It came over really well and he knows what he’s doing.”
New Faces Album in the Works
Drummer Kenney Jones, also a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, confirmed in an April interview with Far Out Magazine that the band has recorded 11 tracks for a new Faces album, their first since 1973’s Ooh La La.
“I can’t see it coming out this year,” Jones said. “But I can see it coming out next year. Everyone’s doing different things. We do little snippets [of recording] here and there. Then all of a sudden, The Stones are out [on tour] again, Rod’s out again…”
Though schedules remain hectic, the band’s progress on the album and the possibility of a reunion keep fans eagerly anticipating what’s next for Faces.
