Roger Waters has announced a special concert where he will perform his new version of Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon.

The album, titled The Dark Side of the Moon Redux, is set to be released on Friday, October 6 and Waters has already given fans a taste of it by sharing his reimagined version of the track “Money.”

The event will be held at the London Palladium on Sunday, October 8, and tickets will go on sale via Planet Rock Tickets on Friday, July 28. Gus Seyffert, Joey Waronker, Jonathan Wilson, Johnny Shepherd, Via Mardot, Azniv Korkejian, Gabe Noel, Jon Carin, and Robert Walter are just a few of the great artists that will perform throughout the show, alongside the stage design by Sean Evans, who has worked with Waters for a long time.

Following the completion of his work on The Lockdown Sessions EP, which reimagines five Pink Floyd classics, including “Comfortably Numb,” Waters had the idea to remake Pink Floyd’s (arguably) magnum opus.

On his official website, Waters writes:

“When we recorded the stripped-down songs for the Lockdown Sessions, the 50th anniversary of the release of Dark Side of The Moon was looming on the horizon.”

He saw it as an opportunity to pay tribute to the original work and also revisit its political and emotional message. After discussing the idea with his team, they decided to take on the project.

The rocker clarified that the new version is not meant to replace the original, which is irreplaceable, but rather serves as a way for him, as a seventy-nine-year-old, to look back at the work he and his former bandmates were proud of when they were twenty-nine. It’s a way for him to honor the recording that he, Nick, Rick, and Dave have every right to be proud of.

Paying respect to his old bandmates from Pink Floyd, he ended his statement by saying:

“It is a way for me to honour a recording that Nick and Rick and Dave and I have every right to be very proud of. Happy 50th to Dark Side of the Moon.”

On Friday, March 24, Pink Floyd published The Dark Side of the Moon as a premium box set and also made it available as a book.
