Their Feud is Far From Over

Roger Waters recently revealed that he started writing his memoir during the pandemic. And it looks like he has no plans of holding back especially when it comes to his former Pink Floyd bandmate David Gilmour. On his official website, Waters posted a lengthy note addressed to his fans. He touched on Gilmour’s actual degree of involvement in some of their classic hits.

He began it by sharing that he was banned by Gilmour “from posting on Pink Floyd’s Facebook page with its 30,000,000 subscribers” and he hoped “some of the fans whose access to my words is suppressed by Gilmour find their way here and discover some truth.”

“Yes he was, and is, a jolly good guitarist and singer,” Waters wrote. “But, he has for the last 35 years told a lot of whopping porky pies about who did what in Pink Floyd when I was still in charge. There’s a lot of “we did this” and “we did that,” and “I did this” and “I did that.””

As he delved into old press clippings, he found an interview of Rolling Stone‘s David Fricke with Gilmour in 1982. Waters noted that “even back then DG was sowing the seeds of the false narrative.”

Gilmour was talking about the cash register tape on “Money” but according to Waters, he had issues with Gilmour’s recollection.

“The reason everything DG is saying here to David Fricke sounds like gobbledygook is because it is fu**ing gobbledygook,” Waters commented. “He has no fu**ing idea what he’s talking about.”

“Why? Because unless he was hiding under the fu**ing chair,” he continued, “DG wasn’t there when I made that SFX tape loop for Money in the studio I shared with my wife Judy at the bottom of our garden.”

He then teased his memoir by writing that the full story can be found there.
