Rock isn’t really “Rolling” anymore

Many know The Who’s popular song “Long Live Rock.” They preached that rock n’ roll would never die, and would live on forever no matter what. But, Roger Daltrey just made some comments that might contradict this common saying.

In a recent interview, Daltrey declared that rock music is officially dead. Well, sort of. He more explained that the genre has reached a dead end.

“The sadness for me is that rock has reached a dead end. The only people saying things that matter are the rappers and most pop is meaningless and forgettable. … You watch these people and you can’t remember a bloody thing.” Daltrey said.

He has a point. Rock has lost its soul and spine the last few years, and has been replaced by bands that can just play loudly and sing meaningless lyrics for money. Daltrey has refused to make a new album with The Who because he claims that the “internet has ruined anything.” He also claimed that AC/DC’s recent tour was a “karaoke tour without Brian Johnson.”

Lemmy, Gene Simmons and Joe Perry have also chimed in to declare the genre defunct. Do you agree with Daltrey?
