In a candid interview with The Sun, Rod Stewart recently opened up about his thoughts on aging and his future.

As he approaches his 80th birthday, the legendary singer admitted:

“I’m aware my days are numbered, but I’ve got no fear. We all must pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket.”

Despite acknowledging his mortality, Stewart remains upbeat about enjoying life to the fullest.

“I am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can. I say few – probably another 15. I can do that easy, mate, easy.”

Reflecting on his rock and roll lifestyle, Stewart noted the changes he’s made to maintain his health and career.

“I’m not like I was in the ’70s and ’80s. I can’t stay up all night, get drunk, and go mad and still have a voice just like that. Nowadays, I have to protect my voice before and after every show.”

Earlier this year, Stewart made headlines when he sold his back catalog for nearly $100 million. He finalized the deal with Irving Azoff’s Iconic Artists, which now owns his publishing catalog, recorded music, and a stake in his likeness and image rights. Stewart expressed his confidence in the partnership, saying:

“Irving and I are a couple of old-timers, and I believe we have a mutual respect and admiration for each other. My life’s work is in safe hands with him.”

In other news, Stewart faced a surprising reaction at a recent gig in Germany. The singer was booed by some fans over his support of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Despite this, Stewart remains a beloved figure in the music world. His reflections on aging and his plans for the future offer a glimpse into the mindset of a rock icon who has seen and done it all, yet still finds joy and purpose in his work and life.
