Robert Plant Unveils Soulful New Single “Gospel Plough”

Robert Plant has unveiled “Gospel Plough,” the second release from his forthcoming album Saving Grace, due out September 26. The song, a haunting reworking of the traditional spiritual once covered by Bob Dylan, closes the nine-track LP—his first with the band that shares the album’s name.
Recorded in rustic settings, including barns and open-air locations, the track embraces a raw, organic soundscape. Birds can be heard in the background—an unfiltered detail that captures the informal, intimate nature of the sessions.
Introducing Saving Grace
Saving Grace marks Plant’s 12th solo studio album and his first since 2017’s Carry Fire. It’s also the recorded debut of his latest musical venture, a band he formed in 2019 alongside vocalist Suzi Dian, drummer Oli Jefferson, guitarist Tony Kelsey, string player Matt Worley, and cellist Barney Morse-Brown.
Speaking about the group, Plant called the project “a new world of music,” celebrating its blend of voices, textures, and influences. “With this mélange of music, song, and voice, anywhere and everywhere is the way to see the road ahead,” he said.
The album features covers from across genres and decades, including Blind Willie Johnson’s “Soul of a Man,” The Low Anthem’s “Ticket Taker,” and indie band Low’s “Everybody’s Song.”
First U.S. Tour Incoming
While Saving Grace has toured extensively across the UK and Europe, this fall marks their first North American run. The tour kicks off on October 30 in Wheeling, West Virginia, with stops in major cities like Boston, Chicago, and Denver before wrapping in California. A newly added date—November 23 at Harrah’s Resort SoCal—extends the tour’s finale.
With Saving Grace, Plant continues his lifelong evolution, leaning into spiritual roots, rich harmonies, and genre-defying arrangements that feel both ancient and fresh.
