Richie Sambora Responds To Bon Jovi Documentary

Richie Sambora expressed disappointment that he was excluded from the recent Bon Jovi documentary, Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story.
In a video shared by Mitch Lafon on X, Sambora responded to a user’s comment praising the documentary but highlighting it from Jon Bon Jovi’s perspective:
“The documentary is brilliant. Yes, it’s Jon’s perspective, but you were asked to join and be a part of it and tell your side of the story. Richie becomes more and more the Ace Frehley of Bon Jovi.”
To this, Sambora retorted:
“Hey I like Ace man, that ain’t fair. I said I’d go back. You got played. They didn’t want me. My perspective ended up on the cutting room floor by guess who? Who paid for it?”
Richie Sambora’s Perspective on the Bon Jovi Documentary
These remarks followed Sambora’s earlier statements to the Associated Press where he clarified his lack of involvement in the documentary:
“I had nothing to do with it really, except I work there but it wasn’t my perspective. It was one person’s perspective.”
Sambora expressed his view on how the band’s 40th anniversary should have been celebrated:
“To me, the celebration of 40 years would have been how the songs affected the whole world because we did a pretty good job after doing it. We worked very hard. And the songs really got to people and communicated all over the world.”
After making his first public appearance since the documentary aired at the 11th Annual Unbridled Eve Kentucky Derby Gala on May 11, Sambora shared his dissatisfaction with People magazine, emphasizing that the series overly focused on Jon Bon Jovi’s narrative rather than his own. His representative echoed this sentiment, highlighting Sambora’s displeasure with how his departure from the band was portrayed.
