Brian May’s dad helped him build the Red Special. One of the most iconic guitars in rock ‘n roll history, Brian May and his father designed and built it in the early 1960s when the Queen guitarist was still a teenager. It basically defined his signature style.

Black Sabbath’s 1970 debut album began with sounds of rain and church bells. Their 2013 final album ended with the same sound effects.

Although Bob Dylan originally recorded “All Along the Watchtower”, he’s a huge fan of Jimi Hendrix’s version. Dylan said about Hendrix’s cover, “It overwhelmed me, really. He[Hendrix] had such talent, he could find things inside a song and vigorously develop them.” After Hendrix’s death, Dylan has been playing the song like Hendrix did. Dylan explained, “Strange how when I sing it, I always feel it’s a tribute to him in some kind of way.”

Eric Clapton is the only one who got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame thrice – as a solo artist and as a member of Cream and Yardbirds.

Kurt Cobain’s hometown of Aberdeen, WA has a welcome signage that says “Come As You Are”. It was put up in 2005 as a tribute to the late Nirvana frontman.

After Ringo Starr walked out and temporarily left The Beatles, he came back to find his drum kit covered in flowers. According to him, he first received a telegram that read: “You’re the best rock’n’roll drummer in the world. Come on home, we love you.” Then when he got into the studio, George Harrison decked it with dozens of flowers.

Screamin’ Jay Hawkins was drunk when he recorded “I Put A Spell On You” so instead of “a refined love song, a blues ballad”, it became a rock ‘n roll recording. It also sold more than a million copies.

When the Sex Pistols were told to write about bondage and sadomasochism in “Submission”, they instead penned a song about submarine mission.

Joey Ramone had a parasitic twin. He was born with it growing on his back and had to be surgically removed.

Led Zeppelin’s “All My Love” is a tribute to Robert Plant’s son Karac who died while they were on their 1977 North American tour.
