Pete Townshend Confirms The Who Will Return To The Stage

The legendary rock band The Who isn’t done yet! After spending most of the past year apart, Pete Townshend has confirmed that he and Roger Daltrey will be back together for some exciting projects in 2025.

“I met with Roger for lunch a couple of weeks ago,” Townshend shared with The Standard. “We’re in good form. We love each other. We’re both getting a bit creaky, but we will definitely do something next year.” It sounds like these rock icons are still going strong!

Shift in Style

Their last tour together in 2023 featured orchestral arrangements that added a unique flair to their performances. But Townshend hints that their future concerts might take a different direction. “The last big tours that we’ve done have been with a full orchestra, which was glorious,” he explained. “But we’re now eager to make a noise and make a mess and make mistakes.” It seems like the band is looking forward to a more raw and energetic sound.

Upcoming Projects and New Music

In March, The Who played a couple of special shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall to support the Teenage Cancer Trust. Recently, Daltrey also inducted Peter Frampton into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, showing that these rock legends are still active and influential in the music world.

Townshend is set to perform at the Theatre Royal in London this November for The Seeker, a new concept album he’s completed with his wife, Rachel Fuller. Meanwhile, the most recent album from The Who remains 2019’s Who.

As for new music, Townshend playfully pointed the finger at Daltrey for the delay in producing another album. “The album side of it – Roger’s not keen but I would love to do another album,” he confessed. “I may try to bully him on that.” It looks like fans can look forward to more from The Who in the near future!
