Paris Jackson Reveals Perforated Septum From Past Drug Use: ‘Drugs Ruined My Life

via Inside Edition / youtube

Paris Jackson, the singer, model, and daughter of the late Michael Jackson, recently spoke candidly about a health issue that continues to impact her daily life. Sharing her experience in a video posted to Paris Jackson Brasil’s TikTok account, she opened up about the lasting physical damage caused by her past drug use — and the lessons she’s learned from it.

A Candid Confession

In the video, Jackson explained that she lives with a condition that makes her breathing audibly noticeable.

“I realized I never addressed this, and it can sometimes be very noticeable,” she said. “I have a really loud whistle because you can hear it when I breathe through my nose, and that is because I have what is called a perforated septum.”

The singer went on to reflect on the choices that led to this condition, offering an unfiltered warning to her followers.

“Don’t do drugs, kids. Or do — I mean, everyone is going to have the experience they need to have with life. I’m not going to tell anyone what to do. I don’t recommend it because it ruined my life,” she added.

Her honesty struck a chord with fans, many of whom praised her vulnerability and willingness to discuss the physical consequences of substance abuse.

Understanding the Condition

A perforated septum occurs when a hole forms in the cartilage and bone that separates the nostrils. According to The New Zealand Herald, this type of damage is often linked to drug use — particularly substances like cocaine — which can erode nasal tissue over time. The resulting hole can interfere with normal breathing and alter the nose’s structure and function.

Jackson revealed the severity of her own condition with a striking visual: the hole in her septum is large enough that she can “stick a spaghetti noodle” through one nostril and see it curve out the other side.

Although not life-threatening, the condition can cause chronic irritation, whistling sounds during breathing, crusting, and frequent infections if untreated. Treatment generally focuses on managing symptoms with saline rinses, antibiotic ointments, and humidifiers to maintain nasal moisture. In more serious cases, surgery may be required to close the perforation.

Sobriety and Self-Awareness

Jackson’s revelation comes as she celebrates five years of sobriety — a milestone that underscores her journey toward recovery and self-acceptance. Her decision to speak openly about her health struggle not only raises awareness about the risks of drug use but also highlights the possibility of healing and resilience.

Through her candidness, Paris Jackson continues to redefine what it means to be transparent in the public eye, showing that vulnerability and strength often go hand in hand.
