Ozzy’s Final Days
Ozzy Osbourne passed away at the age of 76 after battling Parkinson’s disease. In the days before his death, the Black Sabbath frontman made it clear how much his fans meant to him. His family confirmed the sad news on Tuesday, July 22, just weeks after his final concert.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” the family’s statement to The Sun read. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”
The Farewell Performance
On July 5, Ozzy performed for the last time at a special event titled Back to the Beginning, held at Villa Park in Birmingham, England. He sang while seated throughout the concert, which was planned as his farewell.
In a Q&A with Premier before the show, Ozzy shared his thoughts. “It’s my final encore; it’s my chance to say thank you to my fans for always supporting me and being there for me.”
He also said, “I couldn’t have done my final show anywhere else. I had to go back to the beginning.”
