Ozzy Osbourne is set to reunite with his Black Sabbath bandmates for what will be his final performance. Dubbed “the greatest heavy metal show ever,” this announcement was made by Ozzy’s wife, Sharon Osbourne, and bandmate Tony Iommi at Villa Park in Birmingham. The big event is scheduled for July 5.
Legendary Reunion and Star-Studded Lineup
The “Back To The Beginning” show will mark the first time the legendary heavy metal band performs together in 20 years. The lineup includes original stars Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward. Fans are in for a treat with performances from other acts including Metallica, Slayer, Alice In Chains, and a “supergroup of musicians” that will feature Duff McKagan and Slash from Guns ‘n’ Roses, Billy Corgan from The Smashing Pumpkins, Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit, and Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine.

At 76, Ozzy Osbourne has faced several health challenges, including Parkinson’s disease. Despite these issues, he will perform his own short set before joining his bandmates “for his final bow.” Ozzy expressed his feelings in a statement: “It’s my time to go Back to the Beginning, time for me to give back to the place where I was born. How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham forever.”
The concert will raise funds for three charities: Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn’s Children’s Hospice.
Ozzy’s Journey and the Legacy of Black Sabbath
Back in 2023, Ozzy had informed fans that he was no longer “physically capable” of performing shows he had planned in Europe and the UK. He mentioned that he “never imagined” his touring days would “have ended this way.” His health struggles included extensive spinal surgery after a fall at home in 2019, which worsened injuries he sustained in a near-fatal quad bike accident in 2003. Even with these issues, Ozzy has made appearances at several one-off shows, such as the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and during halftime at an NFL game in California, both in 2022.

Black Sabbath formed in Birmingham back in 1968 and quickly rose to become one of the most successful metal bands of all time, selling over 75 million albums worldwide. Tom Morello, who is also serving as the music director for the reunion show, stated, “This will be the greatest heavy metal show ever.”
Additional Acts and Ticket Information for the Historic Event
In addition to the main acts, other bands confirmed for the gig include Pantera, Gojira, Halestorm, Lamb Of God, Anthrax, and Mastodon. Organizers also mentioned that more names will be announced soon.
The tickets for this historic event will go on sale at 10 am on Friday, February 14. This is sure to be a memorable night for heavy metal fans worldwide, as they get to witness the legendary Black Sabbath come together one last time to give it their all.
