A Final Project Gains New Life
Art created by the late Ozzy Osbourne and chimpanzees from the sanctuary Save the Chimps will be publicly displayed for the first time at the upcoming Spectrum Miami art fair. The collection will be exhibited during Miami Art Week, from December 3 to December 7, coinciding with what would have been Ozzy’s birthday.
The artworks come from a collaboration in which Ozzy painted colorful base layers on five canvases. Then, chimpanzees living at the sanctuary added their own brushstrokes—creating a unique set of pieces blending human and animal artistry.
From Auction to Exhibition
The five signed works were initially auctioned in July 2025, raising funds for Save the Chimps. The collection fetched roughly $75,000, with the top-selling piece—titled “Paranoid” and created with a chimp named Janice—selling for $18,000.
Now the pieces will debut publicly in the United States, giving fans and supporters a chance to see them in person. Alongside the originals, the fair will offer limited-edition prints, scarves, and T-shirts bearing the artwork. All proceeds from sales will benefit the sanctuary.
Why Ozzy Took On Art for Chimpanzees
Ozzy explained his motivation when he first revealed the project: “I paint because it gives me peace of mind, but I don’t sell my paintings,” he said. “I’ve made an exception with these collaborations as it raises money for Save the Chimps, a sanctuary for hundreds of apes rescued from labs, roadside zoos and wildlife traffickers.”
For the sanctuary, the collaboration went beyond fundraising—it helped raise awareness about the plight of rescued chimpanzees. According to Save the Chimps’ events director, painting is one of several enrichment activities offered to the animals. About ten percent of the chimps engage in painting, while others prefer puzzles, picture books, or foraging tasks.
Support and Legacy from Sharon Osbourne
Sharon Osbourne has voiced pride in Ozzy’s commitment to the cause, especially in his final months. She said the original paintings “raised much needed funds for the sanctuary,” and she hopes the prints, scarves, and T-shirts will let more fans contribute to the effort.
The exhibition at Spectrum Miami allows fans and art lovers alike to view a final creative gesture from Ozzy Osbourne—one that blends his love for art and music with a genuine urge to help animals in need.
