Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne has created a unique set of paintings, with a little help from some artistic chimpanzees. The five collaborative pieces are being auctioned off to support Save the Chimps, a sanctuary that cares for rescued apes.

Each canvas began with Osbourne applying a colorful base layer. Then, four chimps—Kramer, Sable, Sophie, and Janice—added their own vibrant brushstrokes to the artwork.

The final pieces are titled Technical Ecstasy, Electric Funeral, Blizzard of Ozz, Tattooed Dancer, and Paranoid—all nods to Osbourne’s iconic music catalog. Each one has been signed by the “Prince of Darkness” himself and carries a starting bid of £1,000 (roughly $1,360). The auction, hosted by Omega Auctions, will close on July 17.

A Cause Close to Ozzy’s Heart

Osbourne explained his reason for making an exception to his usual stance on selling art. He said:

“I paint because it gives me peace of mind, but I don’t sell my paintings.
“I’ve made an exception with these collaborations as it raises money for Save the Chimps, a sanctuary for hundreds of apes rescued from labs, roadside zoos and wildlife traffickers.”

Omega Auctions described the project as a rare opportunity for fans:

“Ozzy painted intricate, multicolored basecoats on five canvases, after which ape artists at the sanctuary added brushstrokes…These works will be sold to raise vital funds for Save the Chimps.”

No Artist—Just a Color Mixer

The Florida-based sanctuary provides lifelong care on 150 acres, complete with veterinary support, healthy food, and enrichment activities like painting. As for Ozzy’s artistic skills? He’s humble: “I don’t have any artistic skill… I just enjoy mixing colors.” One of his favorite painting titles? “Dreams on Toast.”
