Noel Gallagher Admits He ‘Underestimated’ Energy of Oasis Reunion Tour

Oasis’ long-anticipated reunion has stirred massive excitement—and even the band’s chief songwriter, Noel Gallagher, admits he didn’t see it coming.

Though the iconic Britpop band has avoided formal interviews since announcing their comeback last summer, Gallagher briefly opened up during a casual chat with TalkSport radio on Tuesday, August 19. Calling in primarily to talk football with host Andy Goldstein after a huge weekend of shows in Ireland, he also touched on the emotional impact of returning to the stage with Oasis after a 16-year hiatus.

“Every Night Feels Like the First”

Reflecting on their tour’s launch in Cardiff, Gallagher revealed just how deeply the audience response had affected him.

“It’s difficult to put into words, actually,” he said. “Every night is the crowd’s first night, you know what I mean? So every night’s got that same energy to it—but it’s been truly amazing. I’m not usually short for words, but I can’t really articulate it at the minute.”

Despite decades of experience, Gallagher admitted the scale of Oasis’ comeback caught him off guard.

“I grossly underestimated what I was getting into,” he said. “After about five minutes I was like, Alright, can I just go back to the dressing room and start this again? I’ve done stadiums before, but I don’t mind telling you—my legs turned to jelly about halfway through the second song.”

“It’s Great Being Back with Liam”

Gallagher spoke warmly about reuniting with original bandmates Liam Gallagher and guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs.

“It’s great just to be back with Bonehead and Liam, and just be doing it again,” he said. “I guess when it’s all said and done we’ll sit and reflect on it, but it’s great being back in the band with Liam—I forgot how funny he was.”

Noel also praised his younger brother’s onstage presence, joking that the powerful vocals Liam has been delivering on tour must be thanks to AI. But he quickly followed up with genuine admiration.

“Liam is smashing it. I’m proud of him. Having fronted a band for 16 years myself, I know how hard it is,” he said, referring to his post-Oasis project, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. “I couldn’t do the stadium thing like he does it. I look around and think, good for you mate. He’s been amazing.”

Knebworth Comeback? Noel Doesn’t Say No

When asked about growing rumors that Oasis might return to Knebworth for shows in 2026 or 2027—a nod to their legendary 1996 performances—Noel dodged the question with a grin-inducing deflection.

“Right, let’s talk about football,” he said, offering no confirmation, but leaving the door open just enough for fans to keep dreaming.
