New and exciting things are happening to Nita Strauss. Just recently, she released a new solo instrumental single “Summer Storm.”
Following her departure from Alice Cooper and currently the guitarist for Demi Lovato, “Summer Storm” sees Strauss getting back into her comfort zone as a solo artist. The song follows last year’s “Dead Inside,” which featured guest vocals from Disturbed’s David Draiman and successfully and topped the Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart.
“Summer Storm” will appear on Strauss’ yet-untitled second solo album, following her 2018 debut Controlled Chaos. Mixing instrumental metal, harmonized guitar riffs, and heavy one-note breakdowns, the newly-released song is accompanied by a music video showing live performance footage and behind-the-scenes moments with her band, including soundchecks, backstage and tour-bus bonding. Strauss said in a statement:
“Instrumental music is where my heart is, and ‘Summer Storm’ might be the song I feel captures my personal style the most: cathartic, driving and emotional.
“While a lot of the upcoming record will have guest vocalists, I’m also so proud of the instrumental tracks and excited to officially unleash this one on the world!”
In July, Strauss parted ways from Alice Cooper. She became a part of Cooper’s touring band in 2014, but wasn’t featured on Cooper’s solo albums during her tenure. She also cancelled her upcoming shows with her solo band for the rest of 2022. Days later, she revealed her plans to tour with Lovato. Strauss said in an interview with Louder:
“There’s no shutting of a door and changing of the guard, it’s just I’m taking a step back a little bit.
“Depending on what the schedule looks like next year, I may have the chance to come back, I may not. But it definitely doesn’t feel as final to me and to the people in Alice’s band and the inner circle as it has been portrayed out in the world.”
