Prince and the Revolution: Live is streaming for free on YouTube beginning on May 14, Thursday at 8:00 p.m. EDT for 72 hours. The concert film captured Prince’s famed “Purple Rain Tour” in 1985. It was filmed on March 30, 1985 at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York.
Prince and his band powered through a 20-song setlist including all the nine songs from his iconic “Purple Rain” album. Aside from classic hits, they also played some rarities and deep cuts. The legendary rocker was backed by guitarist Wendy Melvoin, keyboardist Lisa Coleman, keyboardist Dr. Fink, bassist Mark Brown, saxophonist Eric Leeds, and drummer Bobby Z. Sheila E. and Mike Weaver also joined the lineup.
Bobby Z will take part in a pre-show Q&A starting at 7:00 p.m. EDT. Proceeds will be donated to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization. Viewers can donate via a button on the YouTube channel. Google will match every donation made for up to $5 million.
