The teaser trailer for Beatles ’64, a brand-new documentary about the Fab Four’s first trip to the U.S., has just arrived. Directed by David Tedeschi and produced by Martin Scorsese, the film takes us back to February 1964, when John, Paul, George, and Ringo landed in America and changed music history forever. You can stream it on Disney+ starting Nov. 29.

The press release calls the film “a rare glimpse into when the Beatles became the most influential and beloved band of all time.” With restored 4K footage and stories from those who witnessed their meteoric rise, this promises to be a treat for both lifelong fans and new generations.

Arrival of the Fab Four

It’s hard to imagine now, but before February 1964, the Beatles were barely a blip on the U.S. music scene. All that changed when they touched down in New York City to a sea of screaming fans. Beatlemania had officially arrived.

The documentary revisits this moment, including their iconic debut on The Ed Sullivan Show. With over 73 million viewers glued to their TVs, it became the most-watched program in history at the time and launched the British Invasion.

Beatles ’64 also features footage from their first U.S. concert in Washington, D.C., with remixed audio by Giles Martin, who’s worked on many Beatles reissues.

Rare Footage and Fan Stories

What makes Beatles ’64 extra special is the never-before-seen footage captured by legendary documentarians Albert and David Maysles. The restored film gives us an intimate look at the Beatles as they navigate fame, perform, and interact with fans during their whirlwind American tour.

Adding to the nostalgia are new interviews with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, who reflect on this life-changing time. Fans also share heartfelt stories about how seeing the Beatles during their first U.S. tour left a lasting impression.
