Neil Young And Crazy Horse Release New Song “Heading West”

Check It Out
Neil Young and Crazy Horse have released a new song titled “Heading West”. It’s set to appear on Young’s upcoming album Barn, which arrives on December 10 via Reprise Records. He previously teased the record in June. The LP was recorded at Studio in the Clouds in Colorado, and Young’s wife Daryl Hannah filmed the sessions for a documentary film also called Barn.
The wistful song is a lookback at Young’s childhood, and it follows “Song of the Seasons”.
“What a great ride with the Horse on this one!” he wrote on his Neil Young Archives website. “[Guitar tech] Larry Cragg had my guitar sounding so alive… My mom and I travelled across the country together, heading west. She was on her way back home to start over. I was on my way there with her. Here’s a song about me and my mom and those ‘growing up’ times. It’s so great to remember her this way!”
“All performances [in the movie] are of our original recordings used on the album,” he added about Barn. “Since we play it ‘live’ in the Barn, you are seeing exactly what happened the day as we made Barn the album.”
