Nikki Sixx Shares Surgery Details

[Note: the surgical portion of the video below begins at 4:16 and while there is no blood, if the thought of looking into someone’s shoulder while a surgeon works on it makes you a tad squeamish we suggest you avoid it. Viewer discretion is advised.]

Nikki Sixx is finally on the mend after years of dealing with pain resulting from a torn rotator cuff, having undergone surgery on his left shoulder last week to repair it. Within days of being discharged he was back in action, hosting his nightly radio show Sixx Sense with co-host Jenn Marino; never one to hold back from sharing the gory details of his life or to miss a chance to document them as they happen, Nikki actually had his surgeon tape the surgery from his perspective using a POV camera, resulting in a few minutes of footage of the procedure complete with narration from the surgeon as he worked.

“I’ve been getting cortisone shots for ten years, masking the pain. And it just was finally time to get it done,” confessed Sixx on Friday.

“I talked about pulling off the road for a few years. And I feel so much better today than I felt a week ago — even though I’m in a sling and they drilled into my bones and they found a torn bicep as well in there. Because I was in so much pain all the time that it feels like I’m moving in the right direction.”

Thankfully, Nikki’s surgery went off without a hitch and despite the pain that comes with recovering from fairly major surgery, he’s feeling pretty damn good these days and looking forward to doing what he loves without the promise of pain looming over him every day. Get well soon, Nikki!
