Mötley Crüe shared a statement confirming that their frontman, Vince Neil, was not on board when his private jet crashed at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona. The tragic incident occurred on Monday, February 10th, and claimed the life of the pilot.

The crash left Vince Neil’s girlfriend, Rain Andreani, and her friend injured. Fortunately, their injuries are not considered life-threatening. They, along with the jet’s co-pilot, who was also hurt, were taken to the hospital. TMZ reports that 43-year-old Andreani broke five ribs in the crash. Andreani and Neil have been dating since 2011.

Details Emerge About the Crash and Band’s Response

According to the band’s Instagram statement, the Learjet Model 25A was attempting to land when, “for reasons unknown at this time,” it veered off the runway and collided with another parked plane. Specific details about the crash are still emerging. Neil’s manager expressed his sorrow, saying, “thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved,” and he thanked the first responders for their critical aid.

The band also mentioned that they are planning to find a way to support the family of the deceased pilot. During the crash, Andreani and her friend were traveling with their dogs, who also survived.

Mötley Crüe became famous in the early Eighties and is one of the best-selling rock bands of all time. The band was formed by bassist Nikki Sixx and drummer Tommy Lee, and they were later joined by Vince Neil and guitarist Mick Mars. They became known for their hard-partying lifestyles and flamboyant live shows.

Recent Projects and Context of the Crash

In 2019, the band was the subject of a Netflix film, “The Dirt,” which is based on their controversial book of the same name. The film features actors Iwan Rheon, Douglas Booth, Machine Gun Kelly, and Daniel Webber.

Last year, Mötley Crüe signed a new deal with Big Machine Records and released their latest EP, Cancelled, in October.

The plane crash involving Vince Neil’s jet on Monday follows a string of deadly aircraft incidents within the past two weeks. On January 29th, there was a mid-air collision near Washington DC, between an army helicopter and a commercial jet, killing 67 people. Two days later, a medical transportation jet crashed in Philadelphia, resulting in seven fatalities. Last week, a small commuter plane crashed in western Alaska on route to Nome, killing all 10 people on board.
