If this video doesn’t tug at your heart, I’m not sure what will. ‘Simple Man’ by Lynyrd Skynyrd is our favorite song of all time and for good reason – it’s outstanding!
What strikes me the most about this live rendition of ‘Simple Man’ is the fact that the band has a projection rolling in the background of the band together before the crash. They feel real in a way they haven’t before and combined with what became Lynyrd Skynyrd’s most iconic song, it’s a shock to the system.
Written in 1973, ‘Simple Man’ is always dedicated to late frontman Ronnie Van Zant when performed live.
It’s like we’re seeing the ghosts of the past, coming out to say hello!
Singer Johnny Van Zant agrees, and calls ‘Simple Man’ his favorite song to perform:
“It’s mama talking to you in that song and I think it’s probably one of my favorites if not my favorite to do live. It’s just a great song and that one stays in the set and the crowd always goes crazy on that one.”
