Lynyrd Skynyrd Hit The High Seas And Shake Things Up With A Homegrown Acoustic Jam Of ‘Curtis Loew’
Gimme Three Days Cruise
Nothing goes together better than Lynyrd Skynyrd and a good cruise – except maybe seeing Lynyrd Skynyrd perform on your cruise and throwing in an acoustic jam of one of your favorite songs! In 2007, Jacksonville’s finest hit the high seas for their Gimme Three Days cruise, a three day affair where fans got the chance to see their favorite band up close and personal and engage with them over their shared love for good old fashioned Southern rock.
While it was no doubt a weekend to remember, the Gimme Three Days cruise reached a fever pitch when Lynyrd Skynyrd surprised fans with Second Helping favorite “The Ballad Of Curtis Loew” for an acoustic jam that got the Skynyrd Nation on their feet with their arms in the air, swaying from side to side as Johnny Van Zant led the singalong about the finest picker to ever play the blues.
Fun Fact: Curtis Loew is not the name of an actual person from Ronnie Van Zant’s life – he’s a composite of different people.
The greatest part of this acoustic jam is how relaxed and happy everyone looks – even the guys in Lynyrd Skynyrd are sporting jeans and flip flops and for a second, it really feels like we’re in on a private jam session between old friends enjoying themselves on vacation.
Thanks to YouTuber patchouliskye, the moment was caught on camera in exclusive fan shot footage so if you missed the fun the first time around, don’t worry – this video sure to instantly make you long for lazy summer evenings spent around a bonfire with your guitar and a couple of your best buddies!
