Lindsey Buckingham Shares His Intimate Story of Being Fired From Fleetwood Mac | Society Of Rock Videos

The music industry has seen its share of chaotic love stories. Among those were Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. Fans have been fascinated by their passionate yet stormy relationship with arguments and tensions often taking center stage. Their persistent conflict ultimately led to Buckingham’s exit from the band in 2018.

How The Love Story Began

Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks crossed paths in the late 1960s as high school seniors near Palo Alto, California. Buckingham was playing in a psychedelic rock band called Fritz and invited Nicks to be the lead singer after two members left for college. While they both shared a passion for music, they weren’t romantically involved at that point.

Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks teamed up as a duo called Buckingham Nicks in 1973, releasing a self-titled album that caught some attention but, sadly, it didn’t achieve major commercial success as expected. At this time, their romantic relationship grew and was driven by their mutual passion for music and creativity. However, their connection was often rocky, with emotional highs and artistic disagreements. When they joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975, their complex dynamic started influencing the band’s music, which played a major role in both the group’s success and the personal drama that followed throughout their careers.

Both Sides of the Story

Buckingham had the chance to open up about his complicated relationship with Nicks during a 2021 interview with CBS Mornings. He admitted that he still hasn’t found closure. He reflected on how their bond, despite being so strong at times, ultimately fell apart.

Likewise, Stevie Nicks shared her side of things and recounted how she reached out to Buckingham after his 2019 heart attack. She expressed concern for his well-being and urged him to take better care of himself. Nicks also made it clear that she never wanted him to leave Fleetwood Mac because of their personal issues.

Fleetwood Mac Reunion Still Possible

Despite the drama, hope for a reunion still lingers. Fleetwood Mac’s founder, Mick Fleetwood, has expressed his desire to reunite all the band’s past members, including Buckingham, for one final farewell tour. He believes it would be the perfect way to close the chapter on Fleetwood Mac’s storied career in music.
