Lindsey Buckingham Reunites With Mick Fleetwood In A Studio

For the first time since Lindsey Buckingham’s messy exit from Fleetwood Mac in 2018, he’s back in the studio with longtime bandmate Mick Fleetwood—and fans are buzzing. While the two have stayed friendly over the years, this marks their first music collaboration since the 2017 Lindsey Buckingham Christine McVie album, which notably included everyone from Fleetwood Mac except Stevie Nicks.
Old Friends, New Music
The news came straight from Swedish producer Carl Falk, who’s producing Fleetwood’s upcoming solo record. Falk posted on Threads about the moment Buckingham dropped by the studio:
“Slightly unreal moment to sit with Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood to play Lindsey the album we have been working on. And to see his genuine happiness for Mick to finally do his own album and offering to play guitar and to sing on it. Can’t wait to finish this one.”
The vibe must have been electric—Falk also shared a pic captioned:
“Mick and Lindsey together again, what a flawless guitar player.”
A New Chapter for Mick Fleetwood
Fleetwood’s last solo effort was Something Big in 2004, but he recently put out Blues Experience in 2024 with ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro. His latest project also includes War On Drugs frontman Adam Granduciel. With a fresh sound and top-tier collaborators, this could be one of Fleetwood’s most exciting solo efforts yet.
Still No Love From Stevie Nicks
As for a full Fleetwood Mac reunion? Don’t hold your breath. Stevie Nicks has made it very clear she’s not interested—especially where Buckingham is involved. “I dealt with Lindsey for as long as I could,” she told Rolling Stone. “You could not say that I did not give him more than 300 million chances.”
Still, Fleetwood keeps the hope alive:
“I always have a fantasy that she and Lindsay would pal up a bit more and just say everything’s OK for them both.”
So while a full Mac reunion seems unlikely, this surprise Buckingham-Fleetwood session is more than enough to get fans excited.
