Led Zeppelin’s Ultra Rare ‘Sugar Mama’ Finally Sees The Light Of Day!

Led Zeppelin’s Ultra Rare ‘Sugar Mama’ Finally Sees The Light Of Day! | Society Of Rock Videos

We Never Thought We’d See The Day!

It’s a great day for fans of Led Zeppelin – the previously unreleased track ‘Sugar Mama’ is officially being released! Sure, bootlegs of the song exist, but for the first time, we get to hear it as it’s meant to be heard!

For their third and final wave of reissues, the band will release deluxe versions of 1976’s Presence, 1979’s In Through the Out Door and 1982’s Coda. This is exciting news, not for fans of the band but for the band too!

According to Rolling Stone, ‘Sugar Mama’ is a “thumping, upbeat blues rave-up that finds Robert Plant wailing the title at the top of his lungs and Jimmy Page playing an elastic slide-guitar solo.”

I’ve listened to it no less than three times in the last 15 minutes and I have to say, it’s an awesome departure from the Led Zeppelin that we’re used to! It’s bluesy and intense, and it sounds a lot like a group of guys just jamming together and having a great time with no real end destination in mind. As much as I love traditional Zeppelin, ‘Sugar Mama’ is a great glimpse into the band’s sound before they really became a sensation!

Sugar mama, sugar mama, sugar mama,
Where you been?
Sugar mama, sugar mama, sugar mama,
Where you been?
Sugar mama!

Say you love me sugar mama
I’ll never let you go

Sugar mama, sugar mama, sugar mama,
Love you babe
Sugar mama, sugar mama, sugar mama,

Drive me insane
Sugar mama gonna love you all I can

Say you love me sugar mama
I’ll never let you go

Say you love me sugar mama
I’ll never let you go

Say you love me sugar mama
I’ll never let you go
