The world lost a rock legend on July 22, but for Kelly Osbourne, the death of her father, Ozzy Osbourne, hit far deeper than the public could see. Known to millions as the “Prince of Darkness,” Ozzy was also a devoted family man—and his bond with his youngest daughter was unshakable. On August 4, Kelly shared an emotional tribute via Instagram, offering fans a raw glimpse into her grief.

“Every Bit of Compassion Has Meant More Than I Can Ever Explain”

After weeks of relative silence, Kelly posted a heartfelt message on her Instagram Story, thanking fans for their overwhelming support since her father’s passing. She wrote:

“I’ve sat down to write this a hundred times and still don’t know if the words will ever feel like enough… but from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
“The love, support, and beautiful messages I’ve received from so many of you have truly helped carry me through the hardest moment of my life. Every kind word, every shared memory, every bit of compassion has meant more than I can ever explain.”

A Grief That Comes in Waves

Kelly’s tribute also reflected the unpredictable and deeply personal nature of grief. Despite being surrounded by love, the void left by Ozzy’s absence is something she’s learning to navigate day by day. She continued:

“Grief is a strange thing—it sneaks up on you in waves.
“I will not be ok for a while—but knowing my family are not alone in our pain makes a difference. I’m holding on tight to the love, the light, and the legacy left behind. Thank you for being there. I love you all so much.”

Ozzy’s last public appearance came during a July 5 hometown show in Birmingham, where he shared the stage for the final time. That night was made even more significant when Kelly’s partner, Slipknot DJ Sid Wilson, proposed to her—an emotional moment Ozzy was able to witness.

A Final Farewell to the Prince of Darkness

Roughly a week after his death, a funeral procession was held in Birmingham, attended by Kelly and her mother, Sharon Osbourne. In the days that followed, Kelly paid tribute by posting throwbacks from the family’s MTV reality series The Osbournes, alongside a photo of a striking flower arrangement that read: “Ozzy F—ing Osbourne.”

She also posted a poignant lyric from Black Sabbath’s “Changes”—a song she and her father reimagined together as a duet in 2003.

“I feel unhappy I am so sad / I lost the best friend I ever had.”

In the wake of a monumental loss, Kelly Osbourne’s message is clear: grief doesn’t follow a timeline—but music, love, and memory remain.
