After Ozzy Osbourne expressed frustration over Kanye West sampling his song without consent, Kanye responded uniquely. Taking to his Instagram Story, Kanye shared an old Halloween snapshot from 2023 featuring Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne dressed as Kanye and his wife, Bianca Censori.
In the photo, Kanye also included a text message response, suggesting that Ozzy might have someone else managing his social media account. This move came after Ozzy criticized Kanye for sampling Black Sabbath’s 1983 live track “War Pigs” without permission for his song “Carnival.”
During Kanye’s Vultures listening party at UBS Arena in Long Island, New York, he replaced “Carnival” with his song “Hell of a Life,” which features a legally cleared sample of Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man,” according to Rolling Stone.
Furthermore, on the Vultures 1 album release, “Carnival” no longer includes a sample of “War Pigs,” instead, there’s a fuzzy guitar feedback in its place.
Ozzy Osbourne’s Disapproval of Kanye West’s Unauthorized Sample
Upon learning that Kanye had used a sample from a 1983 live performance of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” during his Vultures listening party in Chicago, Ozzy Osbourne took to social media to express his disapproval. Ozzy labeled Kanye as an anti-Semite and accused him of causing distress to many.
Ozzy revealed that Kanye had sought permission to sample a section of the 1983 live performance but was denied due to allegations of anti-Semitism. Despite this refusal, Kanye used the sample anyway, prompting Ozzy to distance himself from the rapper and denounce any association with him.
