John Mayer’s “Voodoo Child” LIVE At Red Rocks Will Force You To See Him In A Different Light

Granted no one can take the place of our all-time favorite guitarist Jimi Hendrix, especially when playing “Voodoo Child (Slight Return)“, however, John Mayer does this iconic song some justice that may shock people.

For those of you that do not know, John is actually quite a largely inspired blues rock artist, who ended up in a different genre than that of his heroes, Jimi and SRV.

Do not be fooled by “Your Body Is A Wonderland” and “Daughters“, although they possess catchy, poppy tunes, John is actually quite a strong guitar player with very unique and well- pitched pipes.

Fun Fact: Mayer has a neurological condition called synaesthesia, which causes him to see music as colors. He can describe any music he hears by the colors he perceives in it, and says Rock music is usually brown and gray. Jimi Hendrix sometimes talked about seeing colors in music and may have also had the condition.
