Joe Walsh Reveals His Honest Opinion About Artifical Intelligence

As artificial intelligence continues to stir up conversation across creative industries, some musicians are keeping their cool. One of them? The Eagles legend Joe Walsh. In a recent interview, the guitarist shared his thoughts on AI’s place in music—and let’s just say, he’s not losing any sleep over it.

“When AI Can Trash a Hotel Room, Let Me Know”

In a chat with The Associated Press, Walsh joked about his lack of concern for AI and its impact on music. With his signature humor, he said:

“It’s computers; it has nothing to do with music. It can’t destroy a hotel room; it can’t throw a TV off the fifth floor into the pool and get it right in the middle. When AI knows how to destroy a hotel room, I’ll pay attention to it.”

To Walsh, music is about emotion, chaos, and heart—not computer codes. For him, the wild spirit of rock ‘n’ roll can’t be programmed.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Mayhem That Inspired a Classic

To drive his point home, Walsh recalled a moment that truly captured that spirit of rebellion—an outrageous hotel room escapade with the late Glenn Frey and comedian John Belushi. After a fancy dinner in Chicago, the trio caused $28,000 in damage during a night of rockstar-level mischief.

As Frey recalled in History of The Eagles:

“And so that night, with a bunch of glee, [Walsh and Belushi] set about to set the world record for room trash.”

That wild night eventually helped inspire Walsh’s 1978 classic “Life’s Been Good”—a tongue-in-cheek look at the chaotic life of a rockstar.

Still Living Loud and Free

Joe Walsh’s take on AI is a reminder that music isn’t just about notes and production—it’s about heart, soul, and sometimes a little madness. While technology keeps changing, Walsh is sticking with what he knows best: real, human-made rock ‘n’ roll. And unless a robot learns to toss a TV into a swimming pool from five stories up, he’s not too worried about it.
