Jimmie Vaughan’s Tribute to Baby Brother Stevie!
“Don’t touch my guitar, Stevie!”
Before Stevie Ray Vaughan was a guitar legend, he was Jimmie Vaughan’s little brother – pestering him to teach him how to play guitar, stealing his guitar when Jimmie refused. These days, Jimmie Vaughan is responsible for preserving the legacy of the man who began as the quintessential little brother and grew up to be one of the greatest men to ever pick up a guitar. He plays with Stevie’s band Double Trouble, and even performs with his brother’s guitars when paying tribute. If this doesn’t make you want to hug your brother or sister, I don’t know what will!
Fun Fact: Stevie Ray Vaughan and his brother Jimmie performed together for years, but only recorded and released one album together, Family Style.
While Jimmie is no Stevie on the guitar, we love that he misses his brother so much and puts so much heart and soul into preserving his legacy as best he can: onstage and with a guitar in his hands.
Stevie may be a legend, but to him, his big brother Jimmie was the real hero.
+ Texas Flood lyrics below +
Well there’s floodin’ down in Texas
All of the telephone lines are down
Well there’s floodin’ down in Texas
All of the telephone lines are down
And I’ve been tryin’ to call my baby
Lord and I can’t get a single sound
Well dark clouds are rollin’ in
Man I’m standin’ out in the rain
Well dark clouds are rollin’ in
Man I’m standin’ out in the rain
Yeah flood water keep a rollin’
Man it’s about to drive poor me insane
Well I’m leavin’ you baby
Lord and I’m goin’ back home to stay
Well I’m leavin’ you baby
Lord and I’m goin’ back home to stay
Well back home are no floods or tornados
Baby and the sun shines every day
