Jason Momoa Starts Circle Pit During Pantera’s Set At Black Sabbath’s Final Show
Actor and event host Jason Momoa took center stage—well, actually, center crowd—at Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning concert by launching himself into the audience and sparking a massive mosh pit during Pantera’s set. The Aquaman star didn’t just hype up the crowd from the sidelines; he climbed over the barricade and dove into the sea of fans, helping create one of the night’s most electric moments.
Pantera Brings the Fury with a Tribute Set
Pantera needed little extra encouragement, though, as the groove metal legends themselves were already tearing through their set. Featuring iconic vocalist Philip Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown alongside guitarist Zakk Wylde and drummer Charlie Benante, they opened with a high-energy medley of “Cowboys From Hell” and “Walk.” Anselmo dedicated the performance to the late Abbott brothers, Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul, and former bandmates.
After playing two of their own hits, Pantera shifted gears to honor Black Sabbath with covers of “Planet Caravan,” from their 1994 album Far Beyond Driven, and “Electric Funeral,” which appeared on the 2000 tribute album Nativity in Black.
A Night of Rock Legends in Birmingham
Pantera’s fiery performance was just one highlight in a star-studded lineup featuring Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Gojira, Alice in Chains, and various supergroups performing Sabbath classics.
The concert will culminate with Ozzy Osbourne’s rumored final solo show and a historic reunion of Black Sabbath’s original lineup—Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—marking Ward’s first time playing with the band since 2005.
